Following completion of its new single strand casting line, Salzgitter Flachstahl now has three slab casting lines at its disposal. With the No. 3 line now in operation, production can be expanded and output at the upstream plants can be more evenly balanced.
Third continuous casting plant in Salzgitter built in record time
2005-01-01
Shortly after 4 p.m. on November 18, 2004, the third continuous casting line went into operation without a hitch, eleven days ahead of schedule.
For all those involved, this was proof enough that the huge investment both in terms of time and money had paid off; the Salzgitter Flachstahl steelworks can now produce more continuous cast blooms for the subsequent rolling processes.
