In a two-year process, SZFG has built up an extensive environment management system, which has been incrementally certified by an independent auditor. With these measures, Salzgitter Flachstahl is meeting the international requirements and demands made on environmental management systems according to DIN EN ISO 14001:2005.

Air-hardening tempered steels are the material of choice in applications where highly complex components require maximum strength and have to be as lightweight as possible.

Salzgitter Flachstahl advises customers to order winter packaging material in preparation for the “cold season” from October to March. This applies especially to the protection of hot-dip galvanized and chemically passivated cold-rolled steel without oil coating.

4^th meeting of the Research and Steering Committee: "Rewarding and enjoyable meeting"
As part of the activities between Salzgitter and POSCO that have now been ongoing for more than three years, members from top management, production and research at both companies met for the fourth Research and Steering Committee Meeting. These meetings are additional to various reciprocal meetings taking place between specialists from production, research and development and are held once a year in order to discuss the current status of the topics covered and to steer and monitor their progress.

Working in close co-operation with Salzgitter AG, Salzgitter Flachstahl is represented at more than a dozen graduate recruitment fairs throughout Germany in 2006. This will give young people ample opportunity to find out about internships, diploma theses, trainee programs and direct entry.

This year marks the 19th time that the International EuroBLECH Technology Exhibition is inviting large numbers of inquisitive minds interested in all aspects of sheet metal manufacture and processing. The fair will be held in Hannover from 24 – 28 October.
Under the motto, "Whatever your plans may be” Salzgitter Flachstahl will also be exhibiting, in Building 14, Stand E 14.
This year's event focuses particularly on presentations highlighting specific topics that are geared to stimulating lively discussions and individual contributions.

Salzgitter Flachstahl and Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung demonstrated international research competence at the conference of the "International Deep Drawing Research Group" IDDRG.

The Salzgitter Förderkreis, the human resources development program run by Salzgitter Flachstahl for trainees and young direct entrants, is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The perfect opportunity to take a look back and assess the program's achievements.

Salzgitter Flachstahl will issue new pricelists on October 1, 2006.
By comparison with the existing price lists, the new lists contain changes and new information concerning the calculation of prices of reduced or additional quantities, the determination of dimensional ranges as well as in connection with zinc coatings.
