European Football Championship 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine - Salzgitter steel is in on the action

When this year's games are on from June 8 through to July 1 in eight stadiums in Poland and Ukraine and the new European Champion finally emerges victorious, steel by Salzgitter Flachstahl will also be part of the picture.

The Donbass Arena, the stadium in Donezk, will be hosting 3 preliminary round games, one quarter final and one semi-final. The stadium has a capacity of 51,504 spectators and is home to the Schachtar Donezk football club.

The Donbass Arena will be hosting the preliminary games of Group D, which will be playing off France-England, Ukraine-France, and England-Ukraine. If the German team takes second place in its group and moves on to the semi-final, this match would be taking place in Donezk.

The construction work for the stadium commenced in 2006 and extended into the summer of 2009. The stadium was inaugurated on August 29, 2009.

The construction of the stadium involved perforated trapezoidal acoustics profiles contributed by Salzgitter Bauelemente GmbH with a 25 µm polyester coating in the color RAL 7035. In this context, Salzgitter Flachstahl delivered around 520 tons of FOLASTAL^® coils. Trapezoidal profiles are used for roof and wall paneling.
