The International Suppliers Fair (Internationale Zuliefererbörse, IZB) is the leading European trade fair for the automotive supplier industry. Taking place from the 6th to 8th of October, 2010, this year’s trade fair is being hosted by Wolfsburg AG for the sixth time. Salzgitter Flachstahl will be on location for the first time at this year’s event.

Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH, the largest steel subsidiary of the Salzgitter Group, has placed an order with SMS Siemag AG for the construction of a near-net-shape caster in Peine. A fundamentally different and worldwide unique casting concept will thus be implemented for the first time on an industrial scale and enable the casting of new high-strength steels.

The targeted reductions in fuel consumption and minimization of exhaust emissions based on lightweight engineering can only be successfully achieved by the joint efforts of materials manufacturers, processing companies and end users. HI-PAT is a scientific project pursuing a specific approach to achieve these aims and objectives.

The hot-dip galvanized dual-phase steels feature among the highlights of our product portfolio. The dimensional range of Salzgitter Flachstahl products now includes thicknesses of up to 2.5 mm with widths over 1610 mm, and is available to customers with immediate effect.

Salzgitter Flachstahl’s energy efficiency program has already achieved its first successes. The program is responsible for identifying potential savings, reducing energy consumption and thereby saving resources.
