Material parameters for simulations

Salzgitter Flachstahl is actively supporting customers in their material selection in the early stages of the development process. In these phases, it is important to arrive at a correct assessment of the potentials of individual materials, and predict material and component behavior by way of simulation. To this end, Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung has provided extensive profiles of the latest steels employed in automotive engineering, such as the hot-dipped galvanized dual phase steels.
Within the context of the COMDaS project (Customer Online Material Data System) a database has already been set up for customers. The steel grades that have been characterized there according to SEP1240 (SEP = Stahl-Eisen-Prüfblatt) are representative of the SZFG product range. The material parameters are supplemented on request by the program specific material cards of a number of widespread simulation software solutions (PamStamp, LS-Dyna).

By way of the “Materials selection online“ („Werkstoffauswahl Online“) featured on the homepage, customers can call up basic information such as chemical composition, mechanical-technical parameters, as well as forms of supply and shipping, followed by detailed parameters and technical data.

With the new material database, Salzgitter Flachstahl is catering to current and future customer requirements in the early development process stages by providing a comprehensive reservoir of material parameters.
