Blast furnace
Daily pig iron output of blast furnaces A, B and C amounts to 13500 tonnes. The furnaces are charged with coke, iron ore and aggregates for the iron making process. Adding heavy oil to the burning coke creates a smelting gas that draws the oxygen from the iron oxide and simultaneously ensures the necessary smelting temperature. The oxygen required for this process is added in the form of hot air. In addition to the pig iron, which is processed in the steel making plant, blast furnace gas and slag result. These by-products are also processed and used.
