About us
Salzgitter Flachstahl is the largest steel subsidiary in the Salzgitter Group. In 2021, 5,480 employees produced about 4.3 million tons of steel and generated a turnover of Euro 3.2 billion.
The most important customers for our flat-rolled products are cold rollers, vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers, manufacturers of both standard and large-diameter tubes, steel trading and the building industry. In an integrated iron-and-steel works, we produce hot-rolled strip, hot rolled sheets, cold-rolled sheet and surface-finished products ranging in thickness from 0.4 to 25 mm and up to a maximum width of 2,000 mm. The production program includes drawn, deep-drawn and special deep-drawn steels, structural and fine-grained steels, as well as high-strength steels.
Optimized for the customer
The potential of steel is far from exhausted. Salzgitter Flachstahl manufactures steel products that are optimized for their particular application. For example, we develop higher-strength isotropic thin sheets with very good forming and processing properties for the automotive industry. Their higher strengths enable the manufacture of components with lower sheet thickness but that nevertheless have the required crash properties. Innovations, such as the Pretex® method, a new surface-texturing method, deliver improvements in processing properties both during forming and coating.
Our technical customer support and Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung are available to help with any problems. In this way it is possible to develop target-oriented solutions for product and process optimization in cooperation with users and customers. This close cooperation guarantees customer-oriented and application-related product development.
For the manufacture of high-quality steel products, the Salzgitter Group relies on the use of state-of-the-art technologies for steel production and processing. With significant investments in new plant engineering to improve and modernize processing technology, Salzgitter Flachstahl guarantees the fulfillment of all future quality requirements.
