Blechexpo expands its dimensions

Salzgitter AG will be represented at Blechexpo 2017 in Stuttgart with many of its subsidiaries. The group can be found in steel producer and processor Hall 4, Stand 4315, from November 7 - 10. This year, for the first time Blechexpo will occupy all of the exhibition halls at the Stuttgart Exhibition Centre with more than 1300 exhibitors from almost 40 countries.

The exhibits demonstrate the Salzgitter Group's competence as an important partner for the automotive industry and its suppliers. The group will be presenting material solutions for the chassis, transmission, and outer body shell components.

At this year’s Blechexpo, Salzgitter AG’s Initiative Automotive will be presenting the innovative and resource-conserving StronSal® zinc-magnesium coating, which is offered for applications in body shell quality as well as in Pretex® focar®. Pretex® focar® achieves further significant reduction of the ripple levels while maintaining the same roughness and high peak count. Pretex® focar® is used for inner and outer body elements that place the highest demands on formability and paintability.

The group will also be presenting the Initiative’s redesigned homepage (www.initiative-automotive.de), which now allows customers to access the COMDaS (Customer Online Material Data System) material database. This database holds material data in accordance with SEP1240 that are representative of the Salzgitter Flachstahl product range. Users can download the data, together with the material cards for the most common finite element programs, at no charge.

The Initiative Automotive will also be presenting the VW Golf 7 GTI MQB chassis as a highlight. With SZBS800 bainitic steel, Salzgitter Flachstahl is the exclusive supplier of the material for the transverse control arms (3.8-mm thick sheet), trailing arms (3.5 mm-thick sheet), and spring control arms (2.0-mm thick sheet).

The Salzgitter Group’s "Initiative Automotive" comprehensively focuses its expertise and ongoing work on the further development of materials, processes, and services. In close cooperation with customers, this work results in innovative concepts and ideas for tomorrow's automobile manufacturing.
