Mercedes-Benz sustainability award for Salzgitter Flachstahl

Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH (SZFG) has been awarded one of two Mercedes-Benz AG supplier accolades in the sustainability category. The award was presented to Dr. Michael Brühl, Director of the cold-rolled flat products business area at Salzgitter Flachstahl, on the occasion of the Mercedes-Benz Supplier Circle 2022 at the Customer Center in Sindelfingen. “We are proud that our green steel products are helping our customers to achieve their CO2  reduction goals,” as Dr. Brühl explained.

The Mercedes-Benz Supplier Awards for 2022 were presented in three categories: innovation, quality and sustainability. SZFG received the award in the field of sustainability for the production and supply of steel with a reduced CO2 footprint. Since 2021, SZFG has been supplying flat rolled steel with a reduction in CO2 of more than 60 % that is smelted in the electric arc furnace in Peine and rolled and finished in Salzgitter.

The Mercedes-Benz Supplier Circle is an event attended by several hundred supplier representatives and Mercedes-Benz AG management representatives from throughout the world.
