TektoSal®450

A new material is now available as strip steel for Salzgitter Flachstahl’s customers.

This new material, TektoSal®450, belongs to the group of wear-resistant special steels. It is characterized by maximum hardness combined with excellent toughness.

TektoSal®450 is suitable for wear-prone structures with additional requirements for weldability and formability. The material also offers good weather resistance. Typical applications therefore include, for example, earthmoving and mining machinery, dump trucks, tanks, containers, and mixer transport systems, as well as other components that are primarily subject to abrasive wear.

In addition, TektoSal®450 is characterized by excellent processing properties combined with a particularly wide range of dimensions.

TektoSal®450 is offered by Salzgitter Flachstahl as unpickled strip steel with natural edges. The thickness range is 3 to 5 mm, with widths from 900 to 1,500 mm.

Thanks to its chemical composition, TektoSal®450 is highly weldable. It exhibits excellent bendability in both the longitudinal and transverse directions.

Of course, the new material can optionally be ordered with the seca®Xtra product feature. This feature is characterized by minimal flatness deviations on the cut component.

The name TektoSal® is derived from the Latin name “tectona grandis” for the teak tree. This is because the teak tree also produces wood that is exceptionally resilient and durable even under adverse conditions—just like the new material from Salzgitter.
