CR500LA-GI and CR550LA-GI: New members of the hot-dip galvanized microalloyed steel family
04.05.2022 | Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH
At Salzgitter Flachstahl the family of microalloyed steels has gained a further new addition!
With immediate effect, we are offering the CR500LA-GI and CR550LA-GI steels in a hot-dip galvanized version, thereby extending the range of microalloyed steels beyond VDA 239-100.

Thanks to the fine grading of strengths, you, as a designer or material planner, have the option of selecting exactly the ideal material for each and every new component.
Catering to existing components made of microalloyed steels with lower yield strengths (e.g. CR460LA), the CR500LA and CR550LA grades offer corresponding lightweight potentials by way of reducing plate thickness. This results in savings in terms of material and costs, while boosting resource efficiency.
Potential use cases of these steels are primarily in the structural area of the automobile body, such as side members, cross members and reinforcing parts, while applications in the seating area are also conceivable.
The grades are available in a thickness range from 1.2 mm to 2.0 mm as hot-dip galvanized cold-rolled strip. In both cases, the currently available widths range from 1000 mm to 1500 mm. Additional dimensions can be agreed upon after consultation.
