FolaSal® StronSal® 120+25 – a new coating system for roofs and facades

With immediate effect, Salzgitter Flachstahl is offering customers the FolaSal^®StronSal^®120+25 product - steel sheet featuring a 120 g/m² zinc-magnesium coating and a 25 µm polyester coating.

FolaSal^®StronSal^®120+25 will be incrementally replacing the previous product FolaSal^®StronSal^®140+25. The thinner coating means more sparing use of zinc resources and less energy consumption in raw material extraction. In this way, while maintaining the accustomed high quality levels, the new product is making valuable contributions towards sustainability and environmental protection.

FolaSal^®StronSal^®120+25 meets the requirements of the corrosive category C3 with a period of protection, in accordance with DIN 55634-1. This means that this system, employed in urban and industrial environments and exposed to moderate carbon dioxide contamination and provided with the respective care and maintenance would have to be replaced after 15 years at the earliest. Thanks to these properties, it is highly suitable for external construction and architectural applications in roof and façade areas. The system has been granted the general type approval by the German Institute for Structural Engineering (DIBt), as well as the Certificate of Compliance by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Approval was based on positive results from a several year outdoor exposure to the elements on the Dutch coast, as well as various laboratory tests.
