Pretex®: Optimizing the surface of galvanized sheet steel by an improved temper rolling process

01.02.2017 | Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH

Temper rolling combines the adjustment of mechanical properties with defining surface topography and roughness of the galvanized steel sheet needed for consecutive process steps. In order to fulfill highest expectations regarding the surface quality of automotive skin parts with ever thinner coating systems, temper rolling can homogenize the galvanized surface and thus further improve the visual appearance.
Especially the Pretex® surface of Salzgitter Flachstahl, a Topocrom roll surface consisting of convex hemispheres,  offers the opportunity for a wide range of different resulting topographies to achieve best surfaces by adapting mean radius, size distribution and number of these hemispheres per unit area.
