Promotion of the city history committee

As part of the expansion and redesign of the Drütte Concentration Camp Memorial and Documentation Site, Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH signed a donation agreement with Arbeitskreis Stadtgeschichte e.V. on January 9, 2023.
The sponsorship will be used to finance the commemorative educational work of the Arbeitskreis Stadtgeschichte e.V. (City History Committee).
"Especially against the backdrop of the current geopolitical situation, it is important to provide young people with historical-political education at this significant extracurricular place of learning. Promoting democratic education in childhood and adolescence is of particular importance to us - after all, political education is a pillar of democracy. As a company we are aware of our responsibility and are pleased to support the work of the memorial in this way," says Ulrich Grethe, Group Executive Vice President Steel Production.
Krim Weber-Rothmaler, 1st Chairwoman of the association, expressed her thanks for this form of support: "It's a great signal that the efforts of the memorial are being recognized in a special way and that we now have the opportunity to further intensify our focus of activities in the future."
In addition, a check for over 1800 € was handed over by the management and the workers' council. The money was collected from the sale of Christmas mugs and caps as well as generous donations at the first Christmas market of the company. The second half of the donations will go to the SOS Mothers' Center in Salzgitter.
